Who we are

Coopers Couriers is a DEFRA-licensed bird and animal courier based at 26 Lawnwood Road, Groby, Leicester, LE6 0BH. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy.

The information we collect

When you book or enquire, we collect:

• Your details: name, email address, phone number, and any company/account name.
• Job details: collection and delivery addresses and contacts, the type and number of animals, and any handling or welfare notes you provide.
• Payment information: if you pay by card, this is processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. We keep a record of the payment amount, status and Stripe reference.
• Correspondence: messages you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
• Website usage: with your consent, anonymous analytics data about how you use our site (see “Cookies” below).

How we use your information, and why

• To provide the courier service — arranging, planning and carrying out your collection and delivery. (Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.)
• To take payment — processing deposits and balances. (Legal basis: contract.)
• To communicate with you — confirming bookings, arranging times, answering queries. (Legal basis: contract / our legitimate interest in running the service.)
• To keep proper records — including for tax and accounting. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
• To understand and improve our website — via analytics. (Legal basis: your consent.)

Who we share it with

We only share what's necessary, with service providers who help us run the business:

• Our drivers — the collection/delivery details needed to carry out your job.
• Stripe — to process card payments securely.
• Google — we store booking records in Google Sheets, and (with consent) use Google Analytics.
• OptimoRoute — to plan and optimise delivery routes.
• Resend — to send booking confirmation and notification emails.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal and accounting obligations (financial records are typically kept for 6 years). After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the information we hold about you; ask us to correct it; ask us to delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email contact@cooperscouriers.com and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

• Essential cookies keep the site working and are always on.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner. They help us understand how the site is used. You can decline them and the site will work normally.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
